Hurray for Parkland rowers! This weekend at the City Championships, Parkland rowers continued to show that we have huge strength in high school regattas. Highlights included our two senior rowers, Lara Gemmrich, and Grant Shapka, each placing 3rd in the singles event.
Parkland also scored a couple of 1st place finishes - Emma, Jamie, Nicole, and Amanda, in the senior girls quad, and Ed and Grant in the senior boys double; and...the senior boys quad of Sean, Grant, Ed, and Brandon.
The senior girls eight placed 2nd, and the senior boys eight came 3rd - both racing against some very stiff competition.
Emma and Amanda in the senior girls double placed 3rd and the novice boys quad also placed 3rd. The junior girls are coming on strong as well so expect to see some real challenges next year!
And finally, all the regatta wins were recognized last night at the Victoria Championship Banquet in which Parkland won awards for the most points overall for the senior crews, and the most points for the number of rowers in the senior events. Given that there were over 600 high school athletes competing, this is an incredible result for our school!
