IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL PARKLAND PARENTS: Wednesday September 27 @ 7 p.m,. in Parkland Learning Commons - MEETING REGARDING PARKLAND'S IB DIPLOMA PROGRAM CANDIDACY. Find out more about the proposed IB schedule, IB policies, proposed fees. Information provided, as well as opportunity for your questions and feedback.


ATTENTION ALL BADMINTON PLAYERS: Drop-in badminton club will now be held on TUESDAYS from 3:15-4:15 pm starting Tuesday September 26. No experience necessary! See Ms. Robertson if you have any questions.

Now that we settling into our school routines, it is time for all student drivers to ensure that their vehicles are properly registered with the school. If you require parking in the student lot, you must register your vehicle this week, and display your Parkland parking sticker. Come to the front office for parking request forms.

MUSIC FOR MEXICO:
PLEASE HELP US RAISE MONEY FOR RED CROSS EARTHQUAKE RELIEF FOR MEXICO: come to LIVE BENEFIT CONCERT on Thursday September 28 @ lunch in the theatre. Funds raised go to support earthquake victims in Mexico. Come along to have a fun lunchhour and be entertained by talented Parkland musicians like the Bankes brothers. It will cost only a toonie for admission and the funds are for a great cause! A number of very talented Parkland students will rock the house! See the great posters all round the school - don't miss this one!

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: Whistler Ski Trip is from December 6 to 8th. See Ms. McRae for field trip applications at break or at lunch. There is space for just 30 Parkland students, so don't delay!

ALL STUDENTS: WORK EXPERIENCE 12A AND 12B REGISTRATION DEADLINE: This is a reminder to all students interested in taking Work Experience 12A or 12B, the registration deadline is September 30th. Employed students, or students volunteering, wishing to achieve work experience credit this year must see Ms. McNamee to register in the course ASAP! If WEX is already on your timetable, you also must see Ms. McNamee to activate your course work before September 30!

OVER THE NEXT TWO WEEKS, the Leadership students will be collecting TOONIES FOR TERRY and TOUR DE ROCK in Block C. Please consider bringing in change to donate to both these worthy fundraisers!

ALL STAFF AND STUDENTS PLEASE NOTE:  NO PA ANNOUNCEMENTS are to be made after five minutes into LUNCH, as there is so much activity, and meeting time, at lunch every day. Any messages will have to wait until the end of lunch, or next break!


This is a call for all junior and senior girls wanting to play basketball this year please see Ms, Gribling in the front office ASAP.

GRAD PARENTS: help plan for 2018! At least 10 Parents needed to get things started. Many more volunteers will be needed through the year for fundraising events and for  Aftergrad night! To be part of this committee,  or gain more info on what parents do to help their Grads, please contact Carol Gribling at front office.

    
Are you an artist, a wordsmith or a filmmaker? Essays, poems, colour and black and white posters welcome. Create ART OR LITERATURE about Remembrance Day, what it means to you and Canada.Deadline for entry: Nov 15, 2017, and entry forms are available at the front office.

STUDENT GROUP BAND LOOKING FOR MEMBERS: bass, piano player, and singer needed. Music genres: funk, blues, soul, and rock. Contact international student: Hannes Hacke. See notice board for further details.

GRADE TWELVE STUDENTS: If you would like to receive emails about scholarships, post secondary application and admission information, please EMAIL Mr. Choo WITH YOUR RETURN EMAIL to be added to his contact list.  Some major scholarships will be available very soon.
 
GRADE 12 STUDENTS: LORAN scholarship now accepting applications.  The LORAN scholarship is worth over $100,000.  If you would like your application to be sponsored by Parkland, deadline is October 18th.  If applying on your own, deadline is October 25th.  Email Mr. Choo for details.

HALF A WORLD THEATRE DRAMA COURSE: McTavish Academy of Art, from October 3 to December 5, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. each week. More information and registration @ mctavishacademy.ca.
