MUSIC TECHNOLOGY CLUB MEETING TODAY - FRIDAY @ LUNCH IN THE TEXTILES ROOM. Would all students interested in producing, recording or engineergin music, please attend.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS who want to go on the Whistler Ski Trip now have until TODAY Friday October 13 to get their forms and payment in to Ms. McRae.

ALL STUDENTS: PENINSULA YOUTH HEALTH CLINIC hours  changed to 5 to 7 p.m., and clinic is open THURSDAY NIGHTS @ Ocean Pier Medical Clinic.

ALL STUDENT DRIVERS: If you have not yet registered your vehicle with the forms available from the front office, and placed your Parkland decal on the back of your rearview mirror, please do so ASAP to keep your parking privileges.

GRAD PARENTS:  next GRAD PARENT MEETING is WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 17 in the Parkland Theatre at 7 p.m. All parents of Grade 12 students are invited and encouraged to attend the Grad Parent Information Evening. Parkland Principal Lizanne Chicanot will be describing the year ahead for grads. Grade 12 is a very important year for students and their families. Information will be provided regarding special grad events and activities that will occur throughout the year. There are plenty of opportunities for parents to get involved and support their sons and daughters at this key time.


MONDAY NOVEMBER 6, 2017: PARENTS AS CAREER COACHES - FREE SEMINAR FOR PARENTS - from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., @ Stelly's Secondary School: free seminar with Capilano University Instructor Marion Haythorne presenting workshop on how to guide your high school grad through the many post-secondary choices available. Become confident in helping your students discover their values, interested and skills, and match them to potential education and career pathways.

   
Are you an artist, wordsmith or filmmaker? Essays, poems, posters welcome. Create ART OR LITERATURE about Remembrance Day, what it means to you and Canada. Deadline: Nov 15, 2017; entry forms available front office.

SCHOLARSHIPS, BURSARIES AND GRAD INFORMATION:

GRADE 12 'S: LORAN scholarship - worth over $100,000 - now accepting applications.  To have application sponsored by Parkland, deadline is October 18th.  If applying on your own, deadline:  October 25th.  Email Mr. Choo for details.


GRADE 12 'S: U of Toronto NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP  accepting applications. This scholarship fully covers tuition & expenses for four years of undergrad study at U of T. Deadline: Nov 3, 2017. Email Mr. Choo or Ms. Rioux for details.

Congratulations to the SENIORS BOYS SOCCER TEAM as they played a great game against Esquimalt yesterday afternoon. The team couldn't quite pull off a win, but Julian made some spectacular saves, and Lorenzo scored. Next game is at
Blue Heron on Tuesday October 24.


CONGRATULATIONS to the Boys Soccer Team as they defeated Reynolds on Tuesday, 7 to 2. Goals were scored by Moritz, Matt, Andre, Jon (2), and Lorenzo(2). Great work Boys! Next home game" Tuesday October 24th against SMU.

CONGRATULATIONS to Cooper Langard who was second in the Senior Boys Cross Country Race at Cedar Hill Recreation Centre this week. Ava Blakley and Caitlin Gault both had excellent first races of the season as well. The team is still accepting new runners, and will be practicing FRIDAY OCTOBER 13, after school.

IMAGINING POSSIBILITIES CONFERENCE - FREE WORKSHOP & EXHIBIT FOR YOUNG WOMEN, ages 15 and up. ALL DAY, THURSDAY OCTOBER 26, from 9 to 2:20 p.m. See Ms. McNamee to sign up and attend. THIS EVENT IS AMAZING!

VOLUNTEERS WANTED:

(1) OCTOBERFEST Saturday October 14 - guest hosting, coffee and clean-up service; dinner is free for volunteers!

(2) SPECIAL OLYMPICS BOWLING: @ Miracle Lanes in Sidney - serve as head coach of 5 pin bowling program, 5 to 6:30 p.m. every Thursday.

(3) FACE PAINTING SUNDAY OCTOBER 22 AT HALLOWEEN PUMPKIN CARVING EVENT; from 11 to 2 p.m., at Beacon Park. Experience an asset but not required! Four face painters needed! See Ms. McNamee to sign up.

(4) GINGERBREAD SHOWCASE VOLUNTEER AMBASSADORS - from November 18 to January 2 - various shifts available; all proceeds go to Habitat Victoria.

(5) ARTS REACH YOUTH COUNCIL seeking youth volunteers for 4 hours per month at community events. WORKSHOP AND TEACHING experience, AS WELL AS thank you gifts for this volunteer position are extraordinary! See Ms. McNamee.

CAREER COURSES COMING UP:
FOOD SAFE LEVEL 1 -  OCTOBER 20 - 8:30 to 4:30; @ SHOAL CENTRE; cost is $50 ( on non-instructional day). This is a great one to attend. Course is filling up fast, so see Ms. McNamee ASAP!

BASICS OF BANKING & FINANCE: OCTOBER 28, FROM 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. @ Shoal Centre. BUDGETING & BASIC BANKING.
