Did you know that today is INTERNATIONAL MOTHER LANGUAGE DAY? This is a day to celebrate all native languages and we are so fortunate to have a large number of languages here at Parkland. In recognition of this, here are a few greetings to start your day:


A very warm and nice grey winter jacket was left in the library / learning commons last week. Come and see us to claim it!


ATTENTION ALL INDIGENOUS STUDENTS: A representative from UVIC will be in the cultural room at lunch today WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 21 - to help answer any post-secondary questions. We look forward to seeing you there.


ALSO: WOULD ALL INDIGENOUS STUDENTS ATTENDING TOMORROW'S FIELD TRIP - "Protecting Our Spirits" at the Saanich Fairgrounds, please stop by the Cultural Room at lunch TODAY to check in with Shannon Crawford for a quick reminder. Thank you!


There will be a mock trial meeting this Wednesday February 21 in the library after school. This is the last meeting at which we wlll be accepting new members so please come if you are interested in the mock trial.


If there are any students still in the process of applying for the IB program, but who have not submitted their applications yet, please see Ms. Chicanot so your name can be included on the list.

FRIDAY FEBRUARY 23 - LIVING IN THE MOMENT PRESENTATION at Sidney Public Library - Time is an illusion; time stands still, and yet time flies.  Presented by Sidney / North Saanich Library Teen Advisory Group especially for teens and their adults. FRIDAY FEBRUARY 23 - YEP JOB FAIR @ Shoal Centre, Sidney - 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. - meet employers with summer and part-time job openings! Door prizes for the first 50 registrants! See Ms. McNamee for assistance with your resume!



SATURDAY FEBRUARY 24 - SOLDIER FOR A DAY - from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. - 715 Bay Street, Victoria, B.C. For all students interested in CANADIAN ARMED FORCES RESERVES - find out how soldiers are trained, experience annual fitness test, receive basic instruction in marching and drill. SPACE LIMITED, so early registration is encouraged. See Ms. McNamee for details.



PINK SHIRT DAY: ANTI-BULLYING DAY COMING UP - WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 28TH. Wear a pink shirt to symbolize a stand against bullying, and to support anti-bullying day. Please come to the foyer at lunch and show your support, and collect a ribbon!



SOUTHERN VANCOUVER ISLAND SKILLS CANADA REGIONAL COMPETITION - DISCOVER TRADES & TECHNOLOGY EVENT: WEDNESDAY, MARCH 7, 2018 @ CAMOSUN COLLEGE - INTERURBAN CAMPUS. GIRLS SOCCER TRY-OUTS FOR GRADES 9 TO 12 will be WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 28 in the GYM from 2:15 to 3:30 p.m. Please see Ms. Dibblee if you can not attend, and want to play this year.



INTRAMURAL SOCCER is starting up soon. You can pick up a registration form from the PE office or main office. Get your team roster into Mr. Sutton by March 1st!


TIMES COLONIST 10k: Registration now open for race, April 29, 2018. Team name is: Parkland Panthers in  Island Farms School Challenge. For customized team t-shirts, we need 10 team members by noon Friday, April 6, 2018. See Ms. Dibblee for info.
