THURSDAY APRIL 12 - IN SUPPORT OF THE HUMBOLDT BRONCOS HOCKEY TEAM , AND HOCKEY JERSEY DAY ACROSS CANADA - WEAR YOUR HOCKEY JERSEY AND COME TO THE FRONT FOYER TO SIGN A SYMPATHY CARD ON BEHALF OF US ALL. Student members of the Parkland Hockey Academy will be present at the signing table to assist - please come out and sign the card.


ALSO: To support the Humboldt Broncos community, as well as Random Acts of Kindness at our school, please consider dontating your spare change to "hearts with Sticks in room 206". Feel free to drop by Room 206 at any point this week, and Ms. Crawfod or Ms. Patten will happily accept your donation. At the end of the week, we will be donating the funds to the Humboldt GoFundMe campaign.


Thank you to all our Parkland community - staff, support staff, and students - for your support on Graduation Transitions Interview Day this week for our 2018 grads! Thanks to our student volunteers, and to the Parkland cafeteria students and staff for providing the luncheon and hospitality support! And of course, congratulations to all of our 2018 Grads who came through in fine form.


THIS WEEK: is RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS WEEK at Parkland. The Leadership Class is setting up a booth in the front foyer, and we are hoping that lots of staff and students will do something nice for a colleague or student at the school!


PARKLAND METAL DONATION BIN is now on site - back staff parking lot! Bin will be here until the end of May - thank you everyone for your contribution to our donation bin!


GRAD SPONSORED TALENT SHOW takes place on Thursday April 26th. Start planning your act, and stay tuned for the application process!

GRADE 12 STUDENTS INTERESTED IN PERFORMING in the Grad ceremony must have their application forms in by Friday of this week - Friday April 13. Applications forms are found at the front office.


ALL GRADE 11'S - for GRAD 2019 - the ballots will be in the office after lunch today, for choosing the GRAD COLOUR for next year! Grade 11's who are interested in voting on next year's grad colours please pick up a ballot at the office. Voting end this Friday.

all grads: SCHOLARSHIPS, BURSARIES AND GRAD INFORMATION: 

The Parkland Internal Scholarships application form is now available from Mr. Choo.  Many scholarships are available for your non academic accomplishments in sports, community services, fine arts, trades, second languages and more.   Deadline is Friday April 27TH - NEW DATE!


If you're a community minded resident of North Saanich, you can apply for a $1500 bursary sponsored by the North Saanich Volunteer Firefighters.  Volunteer service to the community is an important criteria.  Deadline is May 3rd.  Mr. Choo has more details.


If you're related to a current or past member of the BCGEU and able to write a short essay about protest and activism, you could qualify for a $2000 scholarship.  Deadline is April 29 at midnight.  Mr. Choo has more details.


BEACON COMMUNITY SERVICES offers $1500 scholarships for 3 graduating students dedicated to community service and volunteerism. iN OTHER WORDS, scholarships for those students who exemplify our Beacon chairty's mission of helping people and improving lives! PARKLAND TRACK & FIELD HAS HAD A GREAT START TO THE SEASON: Our small but powerful team got three FIRSTS in our first meet: Ben Sammons - 1st in 200 m Sr Boys; Alexis VanderBulk - 1st in 200 m Jr. Girls - she beat Sr girls too!; Misaki Akutagawa - 1st in Sr. Girls Javelin; Leona Yan - top three in Triple Jump! REMEMBER: it's not too late to join the team!
