AN IMPORTANT REMINDER FOR GRADE 12 STUDENTS: YOU NEED TO BE 70% complete in any SIDES course required for graduation by May 1. Please make an appointment with Ms. Chicanot if you need to discuss your eligibility for grad.


The PARKLAND 2018 GRAD CLASS is sponsoring the 2018 Talent Show. It will take place on Tuesday May 8 at lunch time, in the theatre. The cost is by donation. Come and see some of Parkland's wonderful talent. All money raised goes towards the 2018 Grad!

1. STAFF APPRECIATION DINNER - THURSDAY MAY 10 - Parkland PAC is organizing a Staff Appreciation meal, to show Parkland staff how much they are appreciated. See website link to become involved, to contribute, and to volunteer.

2. Do you know Parkland has a BAGEL PROGRAM? Bagels and juice boxes available Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:45 to 8:20 a.m., @ 25 cents each, funded byPAC group, and local donations.  Volunteers needed to keep program running. To help out,  please contact Christine - lainecrt@telus.net.


OSEF EXCHANGE PROGRAMS: INDIVIDUAL RECIPROCAL PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS ages 13 to 17 - 1 month summer program, or 3 month on-going program in Europe! Exchanges to: France, Belgium or Spain. YOUNG WOMEN IN OCEAN LITERACY CONSERVATION CONFERENCE: for female students, includes kayaking, team building, hiking, leadership training. Four credit program, subsidy opportunities for $500 fee; meals accommodation and course material provided. a. SIDNEY LITERARY FESTIVAL - FRIDAY MAY 11 @ SHOAL CENTRE - help set up author reading, sell tickets, serve coffee.

b. SIDNEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL has their annual SPRING FLING on Friday May 25th. To volunteer for this fabulous community event, please see Ms. McNamee ASAP.

c. GRADE 12 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: GET ON BOARD WITH THE STAND-UP PADDLEBOARD NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS -new event sponsored by SURFCANADA and Town of Sidney. Variety of volunteer jobs - SATURDAY MAY 26 , SUNDAY MAY 27.

d. BRENTWOOD FESTIVAL -Saturday June 2 - from 9 a.m. to 1, or 12 to 4 p.m.  -  help at the children's activities booth by face painting, demonstrating crafts,colouring activities.

e. ACCESS AWARENESS - SATURDAY JUNE 2, from 10:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. - @ Shoal Centre - run the accessibility challenge, act as support through the event - created in conjunction with Rick Hansen's "Man in Motion" tour.

2. WOODSHED PIZZA - local funky pizza restaurant looking for dishwasher, prep cook - minimum wage, but TIPS!

3. BEACON LANDING - hiring hosts, hostesses, and dishwashers for the summer - apply in person with resume.

4. URBAN BEE - Grade 12 or graduated student wanted as BEEKEEPER'S ASSISTANT - attending college or university in September, and who wants to rent furnished suite. Ideal candidate will be energetic multi-tasker who enjoys working with others, with some beekeeping knowledge. All gear provided for this full-time job. Job could continue part-time in the fall. Accommodations rented by the month, while work on bee farm continues. $12.65 per hour, apply with cover letter, and give detail of any beekeeping experience.

3. FOOD SAFE - NEW FOOD SAFE COURSE BOOKED FOR Saturday JUNE 9 - sign up now, as these classes fill quickly! Useful for working in  food service, food retail, or food processing industries. TUTORIALS AND COURSE WORK ASSISTANCE: LOTS OF HELP AND ACADEMIC SUPPORT AVAILABLE!

1. ROOM 201, EACH DAY FOR 1 HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES, with Mr. Morley - available to help students with MATH, CALCULUS, SCIENCE, PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY. OPEN to all students, including those working on SIDES courses.

2. TUTORIALS IN LEARNING CENTRE: REMINDER TO ALL TEACHERS AND STUDENTS - TUTORIAL IS AVAILABLE daily after school.                                            Wednesday & Friday tutorial times are best for longer tests & assignments.
3. LEARNING COMMONS SUPPORT: Monday, Tuesday & Thursday day after school until 3:40 p.m., Wednesday   & Friday until 3:35 p.m.                                    PLEASE NOTE: ELL TUTOR also available Wednesday & Friday after school.
