MONDAY JUNE 25,   2018 - THIS LAST school WEEK - REMINDERS ONLY!

NO NEWS! Just a couple of reminders re EXAMS! YEAR BOOK PICK-UP! 


REMINDERS FOR EXAM WEEK: CHECK AND DOUBLE CHECK YOUR EXAM TIMES! Any exam conflicts see Mr. Buckham ASAP. All grade 11 students - check the time and day you will be writing the NUMERACY ASSESSMENT. FOR ALL EXAMS - students must show up at least 15 minutes early, and bring necessary materials with them - calculators, pencils, pens, etc.


2017 - 2018 PARKLAND YEARBOOKS CAN NOW BE PICKED UP!  If students have pre-purchased a yearbook they will be able to collect yearbooks in the Library / Learning Commons. Students must have all overdue library books returned and student fees must all be paid and up to date.


ALL STUDENTS - REMEMBER TO BRING A NUTRITIOUS SNACK AND / OR LUNCH FOR EXAM DAYS!


ALL STUDENTS - NOTICE RE LOCKER CLEAN-OUT:

ALL LOCKERS MUST BE CLEANED OUT BY NEXT WEDNESDAY JUNE 27. Both your SCHOOL and PE LOCKERS must be completed cleaned out. Any remaining items will be bagged and either recycled or thrown out by June 29. The school will not be responsible for any items that are missing in this process.


HELP GREEN PARKLAND:  any school locker items that can be recycled, PLEASE DONATE to the front office - including lined paper, graph paper, binders, pens, pencils, pencil cases, etc. Also, school locks for any students not returning to Parkland in September, to be used for next year's students. Thank you in advance!


GRADE 11 PARENT HELP NEEDED: annually Grade 11 parents are asked to help on Grad Day; help is given back the year following. TO BE DONE:  deal with after-grad clothing bags on June 27th dropped off at the PHOTOS AT THE PIER event, 10:30 a.m.. Additional assistance for collecting grad gowns on the students' return from UVIC ceremony to Mary Winspear, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., June 27.  Please contact: parklandgradparents@gmail.com.


FOOD BANK DONATION FUNDRAISER @ STAR CINEMA: Thursday July 5, @ 9:15 p.m. - film "BABY DRIVER" - Ticket price $6, for everyone. Thanks to Star Cinema and Parkland Secondary Students for this community event!


VERY IMPORTANT WORK EXPERIENCE NOTICES:

1. ALL STUDENTS finishing up their WORK EXPERIENCE PAPERWORK need to see Ms. McNamee ASAP!

2. ALL STUDENTS, ALL GRADES - Students taking WORK EXPERIENCE next year, and who have a job this summer, see Ms. McNamee to ACTIVATE THE COURSE in July - hours don't count until course is ACTIVATED!


PENINSULA PLAYERS welcomes Parkland students for on-stage and back-stage auditions and participation. Auditions will be held for murder mystery play by Agatha Christie called "The Mousetrap"  in July. Students can register as members on Peninsula Players website. If interested in work experience credits - see Ms. Irving.


PURCHASE PARKLAND SCHOOL GEAR BEFORE THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR! Samples of hoodies, t-shirts, sweats in case in front foyer. Order forms at front office - place your order and pick up by the end of the day!


MISSING FROM GIRLS LOCKER ROOM Friday June 1 - Vans old style type, black with white stripe runners, size 7-8. If found, please bring to front office so they can be returned to owner.

- JULY 1 - CANADA DAY CELEBRATION - serve pancakes and sausage before the parade - from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. @ Mary Winspear Centre.


AVIATION MUSEUM - Monday July 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. - help mind a stall at Sidney Sidewalk Sale on Beacon Avenue in celebration of Canada Day weekend. See Ms. McNamee for details.

Register in Semester 2 TEX, in partnership with Camosun College at Claremont in  2018-2019. Fast track your future, and earn up to 24 credits toward grad by completing 6 courses! FREE RETAIL TRAINING: In Sidney and In Brentwood Bay - certificate program prepares you for first time work in retail - training includes cash register, counting cash, customer service, creating displays, inventory, pricing, opening and closing procedures. See Ms. McNamee to apply for August 5 to August 26 intake.


TUTORIALS & COURSE WORK ASSISTANCE - LOTS OF ACADEMIC SUPPORT AVAILABLE! IN SEPTEMBER:

1. ROOM 201, EACH DAY FOR 1 HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES, with Mr. Morley - available to help with MATH, CALCULUS, SCIENCE, PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY. OPEN to all students, including those working on SIDES courses.

2. TUTORIALS IN LEARNING CENTRE: REMINDER TO ALL TEACHERS AND STUDENTS - TUTORIAL IS AVAILABLE daily after school.    Wednesday & Friday tutorial times are best for longer tests & assignments.
3. LEARNING COMMONS SUPPORT: Monday, Tuesday & Thursday day after school until 3:40 p.m., Wednesday & Friday until 3:35 p.m.

4. MATH & SCIENCE HELPavailable every day after school in Room 208.
