ATTENTION IB STUDENTS: A UVIC admissions officer will be in room 404 this Thursday October 25 at lunchtime to talk about admission for IB students. This is a focussed session especially about the implications of IB diploma and IB certificate for admission to UVIC.


10TH ANNUAL SCREAMFEST being hosted @ CLAREMONT SECONDARY SCHOOL: THURSDAY OCTOBER 25, AND FRIDAY OCTOBER 26 - SPOOKY from  6 to 7 p.m.; SCARY from 7:30 to 9 p.m.  - $10 PER PERSON, OR $30 FOR FAMILY OF FOUR. Massive Halloween event for all school district #63 students. Features a terrifying "haunted walk" winding through 400 meters of animatronics, live actors, etc. There are more than 20 midway games, a full concession, and great prizes, such as big screen televisions! TICKETS AVAILABLE AT PARKLAND ACCOUNTS OFFICE. Tickets can be redeemed for: Haunted Walk Midway, Games, and/ or Concession. LATTITUDE GLOBAL VOLUNTEERING ORGANIZATION: Attention Grade 12's. Do something amazing in the GAP YEAR after grad. Have an ADVENTURE! Come back ready and inspired for your next step. Representative from Lattitudes will be here on Thursday October 25 @ lunch in the Career Centre. Please sign up with Ms. Ford or Ms. McNamee in the Career Centre if you are interested. 


On Monday October 29, Parkland will be hosting 85 Japanese students - KICHIJO GIRLS for the day. Musical theatre students will be the buddies. If any other Parkland student would like to be buddied up with two Japanese students for the day, please let Ms.Chicanot know.



METAL RECYCLING BIN @ PARKLAND! UNTIL SATURDAY NOVEMBER 3! Please drop off any metal to recycle. Metal recycle bin @ back staff parking lot. All proceeds from this fundraiser go to Parkland athletics & hockey academy to support student athletes.

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 2 - PARKLAND SENIOR BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM versus PARKLAND ALUMNI - fundraising dinner and basketball game proceeds to be donated in assistance for the devastation in the Phillipines. Dinner @ 6 p.m., Game @ 7 p.m. Intermission raffle tickets and contests! Tickets $20 for FAMILY; $10 for INDIVIDUAL; from John Mark @ Parkland; potluck donations to dinner appreciated. 


SAIL ON A TALL SHIP: SALTS PROGRAM summer 2019 registration open on Saturday November 3 at 10 a.m. - together student trainees encounter beauty in nature, love in genuine sense of community, and adventure in learning to sail. PARKLAND SWIM TEAM competed at the Vancouver Island Regional Swim Meet this past weekend. A big shout-out to our 14 athletes who competed at the Island Regional Swim Meet, where they competed alongside 270 athletes from 31 schools! At this time, 5 of our swimmers have qualified for the Provincials: Brendon Cripps, Nick Lukie, Erik Rankin, Lucas Benson, and Kyla Kelly. Congrats to everyone for their hard work and good sportsmanship!

NEW VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

SHOAL CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR - NOVEMBER 17 FROM 10 A.M. TO 2 P.M. - serve coffee and cookies to patrons, work the YEP table wrapping gifts as a fundraiser. Four volunteers needed. This Craft Fair is really fun - see Ms. McNamee ASAP!
