PARKLAND IS HOSTING THE CANADIAN COAST GUARD - THURSDAY DECEMBER 6 - special display at lunch; classroom visits in the afternoon. Information about the Coast Guard Officer Training program, in Marine Engineering and Marine Navigation. In joining this four year training program, the officer cadet receives tuition free education, as well as training allowance, free room and board, textbooks and uniforms, medical and dental coverage, and upon completion of the four year program - guaranteed employment with the Canadian Coast Guard. Students who excel in math and sciences, who are seeking adventure as well as opportunity to serve their country, are encouraged to apply for this challenging, exciting training and career program. HIGH TECH U: AN INITIATIVE OF UNIVERSITY OF VICTORIA - working to empower the next generation of innovators in computer programs and technology, through real-world, technology-focused experiential learning opportunities. High school students can apply to seven week intensive weekend program called THE ACADEMY, offered Saturdays from 10 to 4, on UVIC campus. Learn using the same tools as professionals, gain exposure to the real world of software development, and build practical skills to succeed in the ever-changing technology sector.
