BAKE SALE by YCI and LEADERSHIP students: TUESDAY DECEMBER 11 @ BREAK, AND @ LUNCH in the front foyer. Proceeds will go to support the Sidney Lions Food Bank!


ANY STUDENTS INTERESTED IN BEING PART OF THE STUDENT COUNCIL, please attend our first meeting in Room 108, Tuesday December 11 @ lunch.


CHRISTMAS CANNED FOOD DRIVE has started: Bring in a donation! DONATIONS OF CANNED GOOD OR CASH WILL BE COLLECTED IN BLOCK C CLASSES - PRIZES AWARDED FOR THE TOP CLASS! All donations will be given to the Sidney Lions Food Bank!


If you are in GRADE 9, and have not yet turned in your IMMUNIZATION FORMS, please do so ASAP! These forms are now OVERDUE!


ALL INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: The International Program CHRISTMAS DANCE is happening at Stelly's next Thursday, December 13, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. There is a sign-up sheet on the International Bulletin Board. Be sure to attend!

FRIDAY DECEMBER 14 - PICTURES WITH SANTA, @ LUNCH! This Friday @ lunch, Santa will be here! For a small donation to the food bank, you can get your picture taken with Santa and his elves. Come to the front foyer at lunch on Friday to meet the big guy in red!

FILM CAN UNLEASH YOUR IMAGINATION: new competition presented by VICTORIA FILM FESTIVAL. For student film-makers, grades 9 to 12. Winning films screened at 2019 Victoria Film Festival. See posters for website, rules of competition, tutorials. Deadline: Dec 19, 2018. 


HIGH TECH U: AN INITIATIVE OF UNIVERSITY OF VICTORIA - working to empower the next generation of innovators in computer programs and technology, through real-world, experiential learning opportunities. High school students can apply to seven week intensive weekend program called THE ACADEMY, offered Saturdays from 10 to 4, on UVIC campus. Learn using the same tools as professionals, gain exposure software development, and build practical skills to succeed in the ever-changing technology sector. Test drive a career in high-tech, work in an interdisciplinary team to build and deploy a custom web application. You may qualify for application to a paid SUMMER INTERNSHIP! WORKSAFE B.C. INVITES STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 14TH ANNUAL STUDENT SAFETY VIDEO CONTEST:

The Schulich nominee will be enroling in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics program, and has demonstrated academic excellence, leadership and / or financial need. The deadline for students to submit a completed application package to Mr. Choo is Friday January 18, 2019 at 11:30 a.m.


ZONTA'S "YOUNG WOMEN IN PUBLIC AFFAIRS AWARD" is accepting applications from women tat are 16 to 19 years old, and committed to volunteerism and experience in local government. The deadline for $2000 first place, and $1000 second place, award is January 31, 2019. Email or meet with Mr. Choo for details and the application form.

ANNOUNCING SCHOOL DISTRICT 63'S NEW CARPENTRY PROGRAM - building a small house - 3 days classroom, 2 days jobsite program - see Ms. MacNamee for this news about this exciting hands-on training program! Applications welcome!


(1) NEW JOB WITH ISLAND HEALTH: Tobacco and Vapour Prevention and Control Program = Minor Test Shopper. Your job is to enter and attempt to buy tobacco or vapour products; document experiences; work shifts primarily after school; be a witness at hearings as needed. $14 per hour; must be 14 years of age, non-smoker, valid driver's license or identity card. See Ms. McNamee for further info and application process.


(2) NEW OPPORTUNITIES AT SHOAL CENTRE - energetic students to help over many scheduled Christmas events: serving, clearing and dishwashing. Shifts 4 hours long, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.; wages $17 per hour!  Food Safe and WHIMIS preferred.

TUTORIALS & COURSE WORK ASSISTANCE - ACADEMIC SUPPORT AVAILABLE!

1. TUTORIALS IN LEARNING CENTRE, ROOM 204:  SUPERVISED TUTORIAL IS AVAILABLE daily after school, TO CATCH UP ON SCHOOL WORK, & TO DO MISSED TESTS.  note: Wednesday & Friday tutorials are best for longer tests & assignments. 

2. TUTORIALS IN THE LEARNING COMMONS: every day after school

3. AFTER SCHOOL FRENCH has now been moved to Room 112, Wednesdays after school.

4. MATH & SCIENCE HELP CENTRE: Monday, Tuesday. Thursday from 3:15 to 4 p.m.; every second Wednesday, from 2:15 to 3 p.m., ROOM 201. Get help with any Math or Science course you are taking this semester!
