FRIDAY APRIL 26 - Happy EARTH WEEK PARKLAND! Free salad from the Parkland garden in the front foyer at lunch! Extras donated to the Sidney Lions Food Bank. Thank you to every student and teacher helping in the garden! Today is the last day for any clothing collection as well - donations will be forwarded to Threshold Housing Society for homeless youth.


ANNUAL PARKLAND PAC GENERAL MEETING: APRIL 30, 7 p.m., in the Parkland Library / Learning Commons. Get involved - a fantastic way to stay involved with your student's education, and your community school. Find out about future events, funding requests. Monthly meetings, usually first Tuesday of each month. AGM  open for nominations for executive positions; also presentation of updated constitution and by-laws for acceptance. Coming up on May 9 - Staff Appreciation Meal - bring an item for staff to enjoy at special luncheon. Next event: May 17 - Spirit BBQ - volunteers needed! METAL RECYCLE BIN AT PARKLAND - DONATIONS WELCOME; PROCEEDS TO ATHLETIC PROGRAMS! Bin to end of April.


PARKLAND'S TALENT SHOWCASE takes place THURSDAY MAY 2,2019 -  7 p.m., in the Theatre. Tickets from Parkland office: Adults $10, Students $5. Open seating, tickets should also be available at the door. Please call 250 - 655 - 2736 for tickets.

ALL GRADS: SCHOLARSHIPS, BURSARIES AND GRAD INFORMATION:

Application forms for Parkland Internal Scholarships now available from Mr. Choo.  Deadline: Friday May 5th! Either email or meet with Mr. Choo to find out how you qualify for up to $1500.  Most of these scholarships are for accomplishments in sports, fine arts, trades, second languages and community service. These scholarships are only for Canadian students.


BEACON COMMUNITY SERVICES offers up to 4 scholarships of $1500 each to graduating students who show dedication to community service / volunteerism. Applications due: May 1, 2019. See Career Centre board for web address.

ATHLETICS, SPORTS TEAMS, TEAM MEETINGS AND GAME ANNOUNCEMENTS:

CONGRATULATIONS to the Parkland Senior Girls Soccer Team who finished their season off with an 8 - 0 victory over Brooks yesterday. Herlande Aubourg and Alexis Van Den Bulk shared the shut out, with Alexis scoring 4 goals in the first half, and Herlande 1 in the second. Blanca Ros also scored 2 goals and Karen Strand added another. It was a great team effort and fantastic way to end our season!

VOLUNTEER FOR CULTURE DAY 2019 - Victoria Multi-cultural Association looking for student volunteers for Culture Day, Saturday May 25. Celebrate multi-culturalism with performances and food from different countries. See Ms. McNamee for further info and applications.


OPEN AIR LIBRARY IS SEEKING VOLUNTEERS: July and August, from 9:30 to 12:30 p.m. each Tuesday. Free program encourages reading, sharing ideas, books and literacy-related resources in relaxed, accessible outdoor space for all ages.
