*** TERRY FOX RUN - today - FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 27TH BLOCK B - Friday at the end of Block B, 10:30 to 11:10 a.m. - the whole school will participate in the Terry Fox Run. Fundraiser for the Terry Fox Foundation. If we - as a school - raise enough money, 5 teachers have agreed to do the run in a silly costume. Wednesday and Thursday @ lunch, leadership students will be collecting money in the front foyer. If we get $200 in each jar, Mr. McKinney, Mr. Thomas, Ms. Dibblee, Ms. Thomson, and Mr. Sutton will all dress up! And run!


*** VICTORIA CLIMATE STRIKE / STUDENT DEMONSTRATION AT LEGISLATURE: FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 27; from 11 a.m. on - Demonstration of concern for action on climate change - young people leading! Be sure to have your parent / guardian call in excused absence if you are taking part!


CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SENIOR BOYS SOCCER TEAM who defeated Belmont 7 to 2 on Thursday September 26. Great game by all! Goals scored by Ryan, Brendon, Chad, Alejandro (2), and Stephen (2).

BIG BIG NEWS: METAL RECYCLING BIN HAS RETURNED TO PARKLAND! Please spread the word about this fundraiser for Parkland's athletic programs. All metal donations welcome. Please drop off in the bin the second parking lot at Parkland.

TEMPORARY PART-TIME OFFICE JOB: Arbutus Grove Nursery nursery - expanding to include office & payroll assistant. Work 8 to 15 hours per week, October to March. Duties: data entry, reports, scheduling, minutes, filing, scanning and other duties. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office: Access, PowerPoint and Publisher. TRAINING AND SPECIAL COURSES OFFERED:

FOOD SAFE LEVEL ONE: FRIDAY October 25th, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. - $50 - useful certification for anyone working in the food service, food retails, or food processing industries. Learn how to handle food safely. Sign up early - this course usually fills up!


ALERT FIRST AID WITH CPR AND AED: FRIDAY November 22; from 8:30 to 4 p,m.; fun and interactive course give training in reacting and improvising time priority, lie threatening emergencies. Covers all aspects of first aid. Sign up early - this course fills fast!
