*** Thank you to all our students and staff who participated in the TERRY FOX RUN and fundraiser in the SUNSHINE last Friday!


*** Sincere thanks to the over 100 Parkland students who represented our school at the VICTORIA CLIMATE STRIKE / STUDENT DEMONSTRATION AT LEGISLATURE: FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 27. It is wonderful to have our students show their demonstration of concern for action on climate change - young people leading!


*** CUE: the CANADIAN UNIVERSITIES EVENT is at Claremont on Tuesday afternoon, tomorrow. Any students interested in attending must return their signed consent form along with $5 to Ms. McKinney in the counselling suite, TODAY!

*** ROWING RESULTS - CRABFEST REGATTA: The Parkland Rowing Crew opened the season strong this past weekend at the Crabfest Regatta on Elk Lake. Senior Mens Quad placed 4th in the 5 kim Head of the Hamster; Anna Hulbert, Jada Benwell, Henrike Landwehr, and Anna Langemann placed 3rd in the Senior Advanced Womens Quad. Ollie Howard-Batek placed 2nd in the Senior Advanced Mens Single in the Head of the Hamster. Quinn Benwell, Trey DuMonceaux, Conrad Andrie, Harrison Martin, Jada Benwell, Lina Kuehnreich, Annika Pedersen, Ty Konilla, and Luke LePage placed FIRST in a 500 metre duel against Mt. Doug, and posted the fastest time of the day in their event. Congrats to the entire team for a great day on the water!


***CROSS COUNTRY RESULTS - Congrats to the Parkland Cross Country Team for a successful first race last week. Quinn Stancill was 14th in the Junior Boys Race; Isaac Wilson was 15th in the Senior Boys Race; Jaylene Melling was 14th in the Senior Girls Race; and Anna Eigler finished 5th in the Junior Girls Race. The team practices Monday and Friday after school this week; new runners always welcome. See Ms. Dibblee for details.


CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SENIOR BOYS SOCCER TEAM who defeated Belmont 7 to 2 on Thursday September 26. Great game by all! Goals scored by Ryan, Brendon, Chad, Alejandro (2), and Stephen (2).

TRAINING AND SPECIAL COURSES OFFERED:

FOOD SAFE LEVEL ONE: FRIDAY October 25th, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. - $50 - useful certification for anyone working in the food service, food retails, or food processing industries. Learn how to handle food safely. Sign up early - this course usually fills up!


ALERT FIRST AID WITH CPR AND AED: FRIDAY November 22; from 8:30 to 4 p,m.; fun and interactive course give training in reacting and improvising time priority, lie threatening emergencies. Covers all aspects of first aid. Sign up early - this course fills fast!
