SIDNEY, CENTRAL SAANICH, NORTH SAANICH - PENINSULA FIREFIGHTERS CHRISTMAS FOOD DRIVE - SATURDAY DECEMBER 14 - drop-off locations at each local fire station -  8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR SUPPORTING OUR LOCAL FOOD BANK!


***PARKLAND CANNED FOOD DRIVE CONTINUES THIS WEEK, FOR SIDNEY LIONS FOOD BANK: now until December 20. Donations of either canned goods or cash can be brought to your block C classes over the next two weeks. Prizes will be awarded to the top class in each grade, and a Pizza lunch will be provided for the top class in the school! Let's give to make this year the best ever.


***PARKLAND CLOTHING DRIVE BIN at entry to front office - until December 20. Please bring in clean, useful and warm winter clothing in great shape! Thank you for your donations to our local community!


THANK YOU TO ALL STAFF AND STUDENTS for welcoming 51 students and their teachers / chaperones from Fukushima Prefect in Japan this past week, who were shadowing classes and visiting Parkland all day. Thank you, for making our visitors feel welcome.

CHRISTMAS TREE CHIPPING AND OPEN HOUSE: SATURDAY JANUARY 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. - takes place @ North Saanich Fire Hall, Wain Road. Tree collection also at: McTavish Fire Hall. PARENTS AS EDUCATION AND CAREER COACHES: Thursday January 30th, 6:30 p.m.; @ Stelly's Secondary School. Parents of high school students - would you like to be able to help your student with career choices? Interactive workshop designed to give you the skills and confidence you need. No pre-registration required, but this evening very popular with our community, so be sure to come on time!

TSUKINO-CON CONVENTION- takes place February 21 to 23, 2020 @ UVIC - get your name in to volunteer early! Annual anime, games, and Japanese culture convention, supports a variety of local charities. ARBUTUS GROVE NURSERY: 5 students needed to work Mondays and Fridays from 4 to 7 p.m. to help package trees for shipment. Starting wage increased to $14.60 per hour!

TEAC 105 explores FOUR TECHNOLOGIES THROUGH HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES, PROJECT-BASED LEARNING - 3 hours per week; 13 weeks @ CAMOSUN, Fridays from 3 to 6 p.m., Limited seats. See Ms. McNamee if you are interested in: CIVIL ENGINEERING; MECHANICAL ENGINEERING; ELECTRONICS; COMPUTER SCIENCE!


INTERESTED IN BECOMING A FIRST RESPONDER? JDF FIRE / RESCUE CADET CAMP - spring break, March 16 to 21, 2020 - Metchosin. Basic elements of firefighting, search and rescue, medical response, technical rescue. Emphasis on team work, physical fitness, community service. Applications must be submitted by: December 18, 2019. See Ms. McNamee ASAP!


STAC: SKILLS TRAINING APPRENTICESHIP CARPENTRY and TEX: TRADE SAMPLER PROGRAM - two new programs to explore trades; through SD63 District  - starting February 2020. See Ms. McNamee for details on making an application!
