PARKLAND DAILY NEWS:

Tuesday October 6, 2020     DAY 2 

Interim reports will be going home Oct 1-7. Parent / Teacher interviews are Oct 8 ~ 5:00-7:00pm, call Ms. Gribling @ 250-655-2700 to schedule phone appts with your childs teachers.

October 8 (Day 2) is an early dismissal day - Wed/Fri schedule. In preparation for the Parent/Teacher interviews 5:00-7:00 pm.


October 13 (Day 2) is Flip Day, this means that Block 1 moves to alternating days and Block 2 is now every day. Students will be bringing home a notice from each of their teachers with the plan for their class.

Just a reminder that student drop off/pick up is in the parking lot by the tennis courts. Or you can use the bus loop.

Parents - Mark the calendar - November 9 @ 7pm is the Virtual session of Parents as Educational Career Coaches. More info to come as the date gets closer.

There will be a meeting for all students registered in Musical Theatre tomorrow at lunch in the theatre. Please bring your lunch and sit in your cohorts. We hope to see you all there so we can fill you in on the idea for this unique year! 

Although we will not be hosting our traditional, annual Terry Fox Run this year at Parkland, students are still encouraged to get out and complete the run on their own and/or donate to our school’s fundraising page. Our Breakfast Bagel program will be starting up soon.  PAC is looking for volunteers to help with this important program.  
For only an hour one morning every couple of weeks you can help make sure kids are getting a breakfast before school.

Registration has just opened for the BC Provincial Drama Teachers' Conference. It is happening on Friday October 23rd 2020. It is live, virtual and relevant to the challenges we are all facing this year! the cost is $15 for Thespians, $25 for non-Thespians! This is an affordable and accessible alternative to travelling to individual campuses.  And because the event is all online, costs are lower!  Students on the fence about doing theatre in college are encouraged to try out, meet with representatives, and learn more about their options! Register here!!  Instructions, requirements, and the application form are all available here. Applications and fees must be submitted online by Wednesday, October 14. 


Are you interested in computer programming, graphic design, app development or project management?  Are you ready to be creative, have fun and learn about working in the app development industry?

No prior experience is necessary. Horatio Alger Canadian Scholarships offers a $5000 scholarship for a student with critical financial need (ie. $65,000 or less annual nets income per family) Deadline to apply is October 26, 2020.

After School Math Tutorial Now Running (Virtually!)
Former Parkland Student and UVic math degree holder Chloe Hegland will be hosting extra-help sessions for math after school on Wednesdays from 2:15 to 3:30. Students will need their own device and Zoom account to join, but can do so from the comfort of their home. Drop in once you are home after school whenever you need help working through problems, require a mini review lesson, or want help studying for a test. The credentials to join are:
