School Bus registration is now open for the 2022/23 School Year. Registration open until June 15. Registration in required each school year.

Just a reminder to all students to please start returning all textbooks you no longer need to the library. All items signed out on your account must be returned to the library by the end of the school year or you will be charged. If you have any concerns, please come and speak with a Librarian.

This week is Literacy & Numeracy Assessment week, see schedule. See Mr. Earnshaw if you have questions.

We have couple Volleyball hoodies ($45) and Rugby jackets ($55) for sale, limited sizes. See Ms. Gribling in the office if you are interested.

Congratulations to our Parkland Sailing team for competing at the Championship Regatta on Saturday!  They sailed well and showed true sportsmanship despite a few obstacles during the day.   Special shout out to Tommaso and Jan-Phillip for their team leadership.  And way to go Jaime for jumping in to save the dinghy.

Saanich International Student Program (SISP) is actively looking for new Host Families for our international students joining us at the end of August 2022. Make lifelong friendships, provide a student with a home away from home and share the beauty of your community!  If you are interested in this opportunity, host families are provided:

·      $975 per month per student (students must have their own bedroom)
·      Ongoing support from the SISP Homestay team

The Parkland Track campaign is still running.  Work on the new track has started but we are still in need of raising funds to resurface it. Please spread the word about this exciting community project and check out the website at www.parklandtrack2021.com .  There is a DONATE TODAY button at the top for those interested in donating. It will take a village to raise the money needed but we can do it! Thank you for your support of our community project.

Youth Health Clinic is every Thursday night 5:30-7:30 @ Shoreline Medical Clinic.

The PAC Breakfast Program will be Thursday's and Friday's 7:45-8:20.  Baked goods and juice boxes available.  .25 cents per item.

ATHLETICS, SPORTS TEAMS, TEAM MEETINGS AND GAME ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Congratulations to the Parkland Track team for their success at the Provincials this past weekend in Langley! All 4 athletes ran with Panther Pride and ran Personal Best!!  
~ Jackson Murray placed 5th in the Province in the 1500 m Race Walk with a time of 8:29
~ Marie Meyer Piton placed 8th in the 1500 m Steeplechase with a time of 5:33
~ Sophie Weber place 12 in the 1500m Race Walk with a time of 10:09
~ Jule Meiners placed 15th in the 1500m Race Walk with a time of 10:12
Fabulous season for these athletes and we are already looking forward to next year with a new track!!!

If you played on a school sports team, please come to the PE office in the gym to collect your Athletic Banquet Ticket.  The banquet is on Tuesday June 14th from 5-7 at Parkland.  We will have a BBQ Dinner at 5:00 pm, door prizes and awards given out to the Athletes at 6:00 pm.  We hope to see many of you there.

KidSport Greater Victoria is a local organization that exists to help families in need access organized sport opportunities for their children. To be eligible for up to $600 per year in registration fee support, children must be 18 years or under, families must be within financial eligibility limits, and season must be at least 8 weeks long with an eligible sport organization.  For more information, a list of eligible local sport organizations, and to apply, visit www.kidsportvictoria.ca.

Sidney North Saanich Yacht Club has an opening in their kitchen for a full time position for July and August. The student must be 16 and returning to school in September. Duties include food prep, desserts, salads, plating for events, dishes, and cleaning.  See Ms.Mac for more information.

The Sidney/North Saanich Library has a job opening for a Page.  Candidates must be 16 years old or older.  They are looking for an individual who takes pride in being organized – accurately shelving materials and completing routine library tasks in a timely manner.  If you are interested, apply online.

New Restaurant....RIVA, is looking for multiple students for prep, dishwashing and food prep. This is a busy, high volume restaurant, a great place for learning skills in the industry. See Ms. Mac if you are interested.

Digital Works is offering FREE Career & Digital training sessions for young adults 17 - 29.  The session is August 8th, and will help you build fundamental digital skills so you can connect to employment in your chosen field.  See Ms. Mac for more details or contact them directly at digitalworks@ethoscmg.com

Do you need volunteer hours or simply like to help out!  Both Deep Cove and Sidney Elementary schools are looking for volunteers to help with their spring events.  Check out the posters at the Career Centre and see Ms. Mac to sign up.

Grad UVic Ceremony tickets are now available to reserve through June 17. Email cgribling@saanichschools.ca to reserve. Remember to indicate  how many tickets in total you require. Watch the online payment portal for extra ticket payment after you reserve. See the green hand-out for more info.

Grads your ceremony check list has been posted on your grad board, make sure you have everything handed in. See Ms. Gribling in the office if you don't.

Grads if you want a yearbook and have not yet paid for one, check the Parkland online payment portal to pay for yours today. We pre-ordered a yearbook for every grad.
