BAYSIDE COMMUNITY CRAFT FAIR: Thursday Dec 5, from 3 p.m. To 7:30 p.m., followed by Bayside Winter Band Concert. School & community members are welcome to book tables to sell crafts. Contact Bayside School at 250-652-1135.

SPORTS, TEAMS, TEAM MEETINGS:

Big congratulations to Chloe Hegland who finished 4th at Provincials in Senior Girls Cross Country Race! Chloe ran an amazing race & finished only 7 seconds behind the winner, but more than 10 seconds in front of fifth place, with a time of 16:20 on the 4.3K course. In a race of 232 qualifiers from around the province, Chloe was the first senior girl to cross the line & should be congratulated for all her hard work & dedication to running over her four years representing our school in this sport.

Big congratulations to Emma Goodwin as she competed in the Regional swim meet in Nanaimo on Saturday.  She swam 50 m freestyle, 50 m backstroke, 100 m Freestyle & 100 m IM.  Emma has also qualified for the provincials -  Nov 15/16 in Richmond, for 3 out of the 4 events. 

Final regatta of the ROWING SEASON – CITY CHAMPIONSHIPS -was held this past weekend at Elk Lake. Wind & rain on Saturday cancelled most races but a sunny Sunday saw lots of races, and Parkland shone in a number of events:
1.    1st place finish for the JR men's quad made up of Matt, Josh, Mikkel & Cooper.
2.    2nd place finish for Erin, Kyra, Ocean & Vanessa in the SR women's quad;
    2nd place finish for Matt and Mikkel in the JR men's double.
3.    3 crews took 3rd place in their races:
      - the Advanced men's quad of Colin, Daniel, Sebastian, and David,
      - he advanced women's 8,
     - and the junior men's 8 .
A huge thank you to all the crews who rowed so well & made Parkland proud!

JUNIOR BOYS BASKETBALL : This week will be OFFICIAL TRYOUTS! Jr Boys BBall tryouts are this Tuesday (4:45pm - 6:00pm) and Thursday (6:45am-8:00am), see Mr. BUCKHAM if you can not make it!

Horatio Alger Jim Pattison B.C. Scholarship program offers $5000 scholarships to graduates starting at post secondary institution no later than fall 2014. ALL GRADS wishing to be eligible for Grad Winter Dance. Those taking required courses online to meet minimum graduation requirements must show at least two assignments completed by November 15th. 29 students still need to verify - list is currently posted on bulletin board in counselling waiting area. GRAD 2014 BOTTLE DRIVE: Saturday Nov 16, 2013 - 10 a.m. To 2 p.m. - student parking lot. Deposit bottles at Parkland, or place in driveways for pick-up in: Sidney, Deep Cove, & Dean Park. Volunteers: please contact Madison through school office.
