MEETINGS, PRACTICES, announcements, EVENTS:

Important INTERNATIONAL meeting TODAY TUESDAY January 14, 2014 @ lunch in the theatre.

GRAD FASHION SHOW MEETING tonight Tuesday Jan 14, 7:00 p.m., Parkland Theater.  Open to ALL Parkland students (all grades) & parents interested in participating in or helping with Fashion Show, Wed April 9, 2014. Only grade 12 students will be modelling/dancing/acting in the show; students from other grades welcome to assist backstage, food distribution,  lighting/sound, etc. This is a major fundraising event for the 2014 Graduating class, and requires enthusiastic support from the Parkland student and parent community. Please be there!

CULTURAL AWARENESS / SENCOFEN (sencholshlin) LANGUAGE event: TOMORROW Wed January 15, @ lunch, FRONT FOYER. Please stop by & support First Nations Sencofen Language & listen to beautiful cultural hand drum songs. EVERYONE WELCOME.

Parkland Senior Boys Basketball team finished 4th in the Port Alberni tournament. Parents, Grandparents and the Senior Girls team were proud to cheer them on in the 3 tough games they played against teams stacked with Grade 12 players.
Results:  
First game: Lost to Port Alberni 73-36.
Second game: An impressive win against Woodland Nanaimo 64-38.
Third game against Stelly's, lost 60-47. Special mention to Russell Bennett, Harrison Archdekin and Godwin Porlares for exceptional tournament play.

Congratulations to the Senior Girls Basketball team who came in second at the 59th annual Port Alberni Totem tournament last weekend. The girls played the championship game late Saturday night in front of 600-700 fans. Breanna Clooney was named to the Allstar team and Kristy Gallagher was named tournament MVP for the second year in a row. Way to go girls -  you played with pride and a lot of heart. A special thanks to all the parents who sat through some rather unpleasant times supporting their Parkland team.

Grad 11 & 12 students: Are you interested in a public speaking ? Rotary Club is hosting a public speaking contest for students. If interested please see Ms. Oxley, a.k.a. Mrs. Shook! Topics will be released on Monday January 20th

New Media Arts class starts in January. Computer drawing, vector graphics, basic computer animation, or video. Registration forms  in office, info link on website. See Ms. Miller with inquiries.



SPORTS, TEAMS, TEAM MEETINGS:

Parkland Intramural doubles badminton championship Tuesday January 14 & Wednesday January 15 at lunch. Get an entry form from Mr Chan to enter tournament.

Get your teams ready for Intramural Dodgeball. Pick up an entry form from the gym. Registration must be in by Thursday January 16 to get entered in the league.
