JR GIRLS Basketball: In their game against Stelly's, Stelly's did all they could to stop our Panthers by bringing back their Top Junior players from their Senior team. Our girls battled their way to victory beating Stelly's 37 to 35. Congratulations to this talented team! Top scorers Arianne Stevenson, Emma Dennis ( with 3 Three pointers) and Sara Gibson, who sunk her last two free throws to win the game. NAVAL RESERVE HMCS Malahat
Tuesday January 20th.  Come and learn what it takes to be in the Reserves.
Learn about their upcoming Open House hosted for the public on Saturday, January 31st, 2015. The event is free and will include boat rides, a tour of a ship, as well as various displays. It is sure to be not only informative but also really fun and engaging. I encourage anyone who has any questions about exactly what the Naval Reserve does to attend because the event is designed to showcase what each trade is all about and what it means to join the Reserves.

Saanich Peninsula Power and Sail Squadron will again present two Boating courses in the new year at Parkland Secondary School. They present an ideal training opportunity for mature students to learn and qualify for safe boating in our local waters. Courses run from 7 P.M. until 10 P.M. on Tuesday evenings and include some self study and practical exercises. Classes start with Basic Boating on January 13, which concludes after three sessions with an exam that qualifies each candidate for the Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC). Subsequent training includes more in- depth sessions of ten evenings for the Boating Essentials Course. These cover all necessary topics to safely plan and carry out safe navigation, anchoring and cruising in our local waters. They are fun and demonstrate the practical use of mathematics for determining how to get somewhere, how long it will take you to get there and how much fuel you will use. Course costs are reduced for Parkland students. More information is available at the Saanich Peninsula Squadron website: www.sspps.org or by self registering on the www.cps-ecp.ca website. In person registration for the first session will be at 6:45 on the 13th of January, 2015.
