FIRST DAY OF PARKING LOT SEISMIC SHUFFLE!

MEETINGS, PRACTICES, announcements, EVENTS:

SPECIAL NOTICE for all students & staff, who park in Parkland's Student Parking Lot: Seismic upgrades begin this week at our school. Some of the parking spots in the Student Lot have become dedicated Teacher parking.

Students are asked NOT TO PARK in spaces 13 to 38.

STUDENTS & STAFF: if you do not have a parking decal, see front office.

FINALLY: there should be NO STUDENT DROP-OFF IN THE BACK STUDENT PARKING LOT EXCEPT FOR PALS STUDENTS, FROM NOW ON!

Saturday January 17 @ 7:30 p.m. – A NORTHERN TAPESTRY – celebration of Canadian landscape and artists, over 400 images, words and music from Canadian photographers, poets and writers, featuring Geoff Noble, Susan Shillingford and Arthur Black. Mary Winspear Centre for tickets: adults $28, students $16.

Monday January 19 – Elizabeth May visits Parkland! 10:30 to 11:30 in the theatre.

Thursday January 22: INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS FAREWELL @ LUNCH, THEATRE

Game 1 -Friday January 9th:  Parkland 61 - Elgin Park 34 (Top scorers Emma Dennis 25 points & MVP of the Game, Ari Stevenson 23 points, Lauren Fanelli 9 points)
Game 2 -Saturday January 10th:  Parkland 60 – W.J. Mouat 48 (Top Scorers Ari Stevenson 32 points & MVP of the Game, Sarah Gibson 16 points, Emma Dennis 10 points)
Game 3 Final -Abbotsford Christian 1st place, Parkland 2nd place Final score 49-36  (Top scorers Lauren Fanelli 13 points & MVP of the Game, Ari Stevenson 13 points, Sarah Gibson 10 points)
All of the Team played Great ball at this Tournament.  Many Thanks to the many Parents who travelled to Port Coquitlam to Cheer them on!

Volunteer Opportunity at Lavender Farm.  Are you interested in Horticulture, Animals & Local Farming??  If so, this is a great opportunity to gain experience and volunteer at the Victoria Lavender Farm. Volunteers needed for their local organic farm and their petting zoo. If you have any interest, please see Ms. McNamee! Saanich Peninsula Power and Sail Squadron will present two Boating courses @ Parkland, STARTING JANUARY 13, 2015. Training opportunity to qualify for safe boating in our local waters. Courses run 7 P.M. to 10 P.M. on Tuesday evenings, & include self study & practical exercises. Subsequent training includes ten in- depth sessions for Boating Essentials. Cover all necessary topics to plan & carry out safe navigation, anchoring & cruising in our local waters. Course costs reduced for Parkland students. Info available at Saanich Peninsula Squadron website: www.sppss.org. In person registration for first session will be at 6:45 on the 13th of January, 2015.

NAVAL RESERVE HMCS Malahat: Tuesday January 20, 2015 – NAVAL RESERVES DISPLAY AT PARKLAND, @ LUNCH, front foyer.

Naval Reserve Open House - Saturday, January 31st, 2015. Free event includes boat rides & ship tours. Anyone who has questions about exactly what the Naval Reserve does, should attend! This event showcases each trade & what it means to join the Reserves.

PLAN AHEAD FOR 3RD ANNUAL AVIATION CAREER DAY: Saturday Feb 21, from 10 to 3 @ B.C. AVIATION MUSEUM, Sidney, B.C.  “The sky's the limit” corporate employers & post
 secondary educators will be represented , including: BCIT Aerospace, Dept of National Defense, Viking Air, Victoria Flying Club, Transport Canada, NAV Canada, Victoria Airport Authority, Air Cadets,& others.
