JUNIOR BOYS BASKETBALL TRY-OUTS TODAY ARE CANCELLED. We will have our first try-out at lunch on Wednesday October 23.


JUNIOR GIRLS BASKETBALL TRY-OUTS 10:30 TO 12:30 on Sunday October 20. All Junior Girls interested in playing basketball, attend!

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: Vancouver Trip is scheduled for November 13th. See Ms. McKinney in Counselling for an application. The deadline for applications is Tuesday October 29th, so don't delay!


***JUNIOR BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM: try-outs are on Friday October 18 from 2:15 to 3:30 p.m. Any Grade 9 or 10 boys who are interested in playing, but can not make it to the try-out, please connect with Mr. Walia in Room 104 before Friday.


EUROPE TRIP 2020 MEETING: Lunch time meetings resume Monday October 21, and are a regular check-in time for those of you already signed up for the trip. Come and ask questions, learn travel tips and get excited!


FUWSE - ASSOCIATION FOR FUTURE WOMEN SCIENTISTS AND ENGINEERS - presentation Monday October 21, @ lunch, 11:30 to 12:30, by the blue tables. THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING ARTSY: 2019 Parkland Arts Fundraiser - SUNDAY NOVEMBER 17 , from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. - visit an instrument petting zoo! See performances by Parkland Musical Theatre, Parkland Dancers, Mufaro Marimba, and Blish! FORESTRY NURSERY WORKERS: ARBUTUS GROVE NURSERY - new job - Monday to Friday, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. schedule. Seasonal; start November 2019 to February 2020; some Saturdays. Starting @ $13.85 per hour with incremental increases.

***HIGH TECH U iS for students interested in COMPUTER SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING. You will develop a network with like-minded peers from all over Vancouver Island, explore technology and how it can be used positively to impact our world. This year, our SD 63 students can apply for the Skills Academy and to AUDIT the Dual Credit Course at UVIC! See Ms. MsNamee for details. Jaden W from Parkland did the High Tech U Academy, and is an excellent ambassador for the program!


***INTERESTED IN BECOMING A FIRST RESPONDER? JDF FIRE / RESCUE CADET CAMP takes place spring break, March 16 to 21, 2020 - Metchosin. Basic elements of firefighting, search and rescue, medical response, and technical resuce. Strong emphasis on team work, physical fitness, and community service. Applications must be submitted by: December 18, 2019. See Ms. McNamee ASAP!


STAC: SKILLS TRAINING APPRENTICESHIP CARPENTRY and TEX: TRADE SAMPLER PROGRAM - two new programs to explore trades; through SD63 District  - starting February 2020. See Ms. McNamee for details on making an application!


FOOD SAFE LEVEL ONE: FRIDAY October 25th, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. - $50 - useful certification for anyone working in the food service, food retails, or food processing industries. Learn how to handle food safely. Sign up early - this course usually fills up!


ALERT FIRST AID WITH CPR AND AED: FRIDAY November 22; from 8:30 to 4 p,m.; fun and interactive course give training in reacting and improvising time priority, lie threatening emergencies. Covers all aspects of first aid. Sign up early - this course fills fast!
